Alexandre Ritter is a Brazilian-born bassist who has been on the faculty of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul-UFRGS, Porto Alegre/Brazil, since 2000. Alexandre received both a Doctor of Musical Arts and Bachelor Degrees from the University of Georgia in the USA, and pursued Master's studies at the University of British Columbia in Canada. Alexandre is a recipient of scholarships for programs such as the Academia Musicale Chiggiana, receiving a Diploma di Mérito, in Siena/Italy, and for the Banff Orchestral Program in Canada. Alexandre's experience as an orchestral player includes engagements with ensembles in North and South Americas, including the Savannah, Charleston, Greenville, and Augusta Symphonies as well as the Porto Alegre, and Paraná Symphony orchestras in Brazil.
